Semimembranosus

Hamstrings

Origin-Biceps Femoris

Long head:

Ischial tuberosity (long head origin is shared with the semitendinosus.)

Short head:

Linea aspera on the upper two-thirds of the posterior femur.

Origin-Semimembranosus & Semitendinosus

Ischial tuberosity: (semitendinosus origin is shared with the long head of the biceps femoris).

Insertion-Biceps Femoris

Head of fibula.

Insertion-Semimembranosus & Semitendinosus

1) Semimembranosus: Posteromedial surface of proximal tibia. Some fibers join to form the oblique popliteal ligament and attach to the posterior medial meniscus.

2) Semitendinosus: Upper inner surface of the proximal tibia (contributes to pes anserinus).
